My first movie review and it's a 2002 film! I'm such a noob for watching this only this month. XD Anyway, to start off, here's the movie plot. This is taken from a fanlisting that I am in. Sorry, I can't phrase a good synopsis so, I just posted some from other site.

""Suicide Club" opens with 54 cheerful teenagers throwing themselves in front of a train for no apparent reason. Other inexplicable suicides follow, but further events yield more questions than answers. What is the purpose of a mysterious white bag containing stitched human skin found at some of the scenes? What sinister role does the seemingly innocuous but overexposed teen band Dessert have in this? What is the meaning of a mysterious website that seems to predict the suicides before they occur? Time is running out for the police and their unlikely ally, a cyber jock known as "The Bat". The suicide rate has climbed to a spectacular rate, and the country is in the grip of an obsession with death. Unless this is stopped, anarchy will consume Japan." -NixFLIX

My Comment: (Okay, I know this review would suck, because I'm illiterate and prone to grammatical errors. XD)

Of course, it's superb! To anyone who would want to see the movie, I'll first remind you that this is not a gore-happy film. Well, some scenes are gory, but do overlook that, and there's more to it. Yes, I'm having a rollercoaster ride of emotions while watching it. Awe, excitement, disgust, a bit of fear, made me laugh a couple of times, made me feel like singing... Also, the film displays much of the modern issues of society, not just Japan's, but other nations as well, the issue of suicide in most countries, alienation among the youth, among others. I'm really not good on looking into subliminal message though, but I kinda felt really saddened by the fact that humans can, well, just die and or kill themselves for trivial reasons.

I ought to love this one because it is of Battle Royale's caliber. I'm too biased for judging Japanese films based on Battle Royale, but it became my standard. And as I've read from a review of Suicide Circle, the film is much of an anti-thesis of Battle Royale. While the latter had the government killing the youth to hold them back and eliminate them for being a possible threat to society, Suicide Circle has children displaying "propaganda" and ends up influencing the adults to think about their existence, their connection, with themselves and everything around them. The story doesn't exhibit that much complexity, but the sketchy ending really is... uh, quite disappointing.

I love the soundtrack, and of course, songs form Dessert, a girl group on the movie. My favorite scene is the one with the mother cutting her fingers while preparing for her family's meal! Yummy!

Overall, it is one of the best movie I've seen! A must watch! Look also for Noriko's Dinner Table (Noriko no Shokutaku): sequel, or pseudo-sequel, if that's how you call it, of Suicide Circle.
